Meinl Sonic Energy Thunder Drum este un instrument de percuție deosebit, care generează sunete profunde, tunătoare, asemănătoare cu sunetele furtunii și ale tunetului rostogolit. Datorită construcției sintetice ușoare, este comod de ținut și ușor de folosit, fiind foarte potrivit atât pentru interpretări, cât și pentru lucru cu sunetul sau sesiuni de relaxare.
Instrumentul este echipat cu un arc metalic care poate fi mișcat liber prin mișcări fine ale încheieturii, obținând un efect realist de tunet. Lovirea arcului cu palma permite adăugarea unor accente ascuțite, iar deschiderea și închiderea orificiului de rezonanță oferă posibilități sonore suplimentare – inclusiv efecte asemănătoare wah-wah.
Thunder Drum este foarte potrivit pentru crearea peisajelor sonore naturale, sound journey, muzică experimentală și sound design creativ.
